Horizons College have been hosting a Careers Week at the Segal Centre this week (beginning 12th November). Many local employers and organisations have been invited in speak to our young people about the variety of careers and jobs available in and around Swindon.
We have had visits from The Brunel Centre, Waitrose, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Holiday Inn, the Fire Brigade and BaxterStorey as well as trips out to visit The AutoBoss Garage and experience the job of a coach driver with Barnes Coaches.
The Uplands Charity Shops, Skills for work Programme and South Leigh Farm have also provided very engaging presentations and activities for our learners. In addition to this, we have experienced an inspirational visit from Jackie Smith CEO to talk about her amazing career journey.
The National Careers Service have run some class based careers workshops and met 1:1 with some of our learners to discuss what their careers plans for the future. Building Bridges and Working Links have also explained the support they can offer our learners with finding employment and securing additional training once they leave the college (if needed).
It has been an amazing week full of interesting presentations and activities and we thank all our volunteers for their tremendous support.
