Supported Internships

Supported Internships is a one year programme for learners over 16 who have additional needs. Learners will be keen to move into the world of work  but are not ready yet to progress to a Supported Internship or are not sure which vocational pathway they need to follow. 

The course is aimed to give Learners Skills for independence and employment and give individuals time to mature and to try out work based subjects in different work settings.

Learners follow a pathway that support their mid and long term goals.

Work placements include:
Community Enterprise Centre

All our learners take part in enterprise work, activities for daily living and also a travel training programme.

Some of the activities on the course include:

Sensory activities
Travel training
Activities for daily Living
Farm work
Work experience

All our learners take part in enterprise or work experience both class based and with local employers.

We offer a wide range of options and activities. Our aim is to get everyone ready for the next step in life whether it is independent or supported living, Life skills or Supported Employment. Learners will study Numeracy and Literacy and Achieve Qualifications at Entry level.

Moving on…
From the Preparation for Supported Internship, learners will progress into a Supported Internship programme based with a local employer or into the Enhanced study programme – moving on course.

Entry Requirements
No formal qualifications are required but it is important to have the determination and motivation to meet the needs of the ever changing world of work. There is also an emphasis on study skills and working as a team throughout the course.

Residential Trips
Salamander Course
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

Course Cost
The course is free to full time learners with an EHCP.
